From Derrick Sorrell who owns 3 houses down Lyham Road.
History
Cottages built 1859 known as Ely Terrace included a bake house.
Windmill built 1816 sails used until 1862, then used for storage for a while.
1876 Gas engine added, milling resumed. Milling continued until 1935.
Derrick’s relatives took a lease on the bakery in 1898 and the bakery continued until 1960.
The windmill could have provided the grain from 1898 to 1935 to the bake house in Lyham Road.
The stables were an extension to the house which still exists, morning and evening the horses came through the house because they pulled the van that delivered the bread.
