5 November 1934 – born

1940 – Lester Road school, Kensington

1946 – 1951Jeppe High School for Girls in Kensington

1952 – 1954 BA in History of Art and Sociology at University of the Witwatersrand 

1955 – 1958 Research assistant at National Institute for Personnel Research (NIPR) in Empire Road Johannesburg. [Part of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research] – ‘how to code v briefly’

1958 – arrived in London, worked at Gallop Poll [LINK My Working Life]

1959 – joined Government Social Survey

1965 – returned to South Africa, joined ICT (then ICL) as a software programmer then returned to UK at end of year

1966 – Rejoined ICL briefly

1967 – LSE to study Personnel Management 

1968 – rejoined ICL

Then decided to buy a fish and chips van 

1974 – 1978 Rejoined LSA and Nancy Seaar to research the effects of the Equal Pay act, and the upcoming Sex Discrimination Act

1978-81- Research for the German Marshall Fund to carry out action research on women’s employment in several European banks – Netherlands, Bekgium ad France looking at affirmative action in US and Canada

1982 on – working with NatWest and Midlands banks

Started Women in Banking with Susan Law and Margaret Carrington

Worked for City University on womens employment and then the Centre for Disability Management

Went for South Bank University to get an MA in International Development

Started Thatu in 2004 – 2014
