Cornwall - A brief letter after Lockdown 2021?

Paddington station like any thing you haven’t seen for a long time, looks different, and big. Luckily as I get out of the taxi a man with a buggy comes over and asks whether I have booked assistance.on the negative he says’come with me and I am driven down to pick up my ticket and then to Pret as the ticket office man says(incorrectly) that there is no food on the train. I am told to sit there and he will return to put me on the train. I sit and watch the eerily empty station and all the men standing around looking for people to help. In time I am wheeled to the train and shown to an empty first class compartment where I choose a single seat with a table to be sure of social distancing -an unnecessary precaution as we can all safely distance for the whole journey- although at Plymouth many people did get on presumably to second class .trolley service appeared several times with, once again, the three people desperate for customers. I was even offered free porridge- at3pm!!

Met safely by Kerry and driven to our cottage in the gardens, surrounded by woods since when I have been fairly inactive-strolls in the grounds and lovely walled garden,a visit to a dog friendly beach, and fish lunches out in Charlestown and crowded and non-social distancing mevagissy-the latter on the only really sunny day day’s day was .oh and a visit to the lost garden’s of heligan where I only concentrated on the impressive veg garden-influence of thatu?

I have seldom felt warm and on the one really summery day put on four layers and was over hot whilst everyone walked around in skimpy summer clothing- what one wears on a beach holiday in Cornwall in summer.

But I’m glad I came as it has broken the feeling of never endingness and I feel better and more confident and have stopped using the wretched stick, instead concentrating instead. Oh and doing exercises and reading.

Tried to add photos but no good. I have a lot to learn but right t the end of this, with Kerrys advice to turn on Bluetooth, i finally managed that – feeling very technologically savvy as I had no idea what Bluetooth did and had failed to do so yesterday. So at last i am using the keyboard which makes life a lot easier. But too late, as I must stop and go for a stroll. I’m realising how easily one can really get hooked on technology and sit in front of a screen instead of doing other things

So out into another grey day, luckily very seldom have we had real wind. But the comfort and warmth of home does beckon – back home tomorrow evening.xxxm
